There are several types and sub-types which weapons are categorized into.
This determines what weapon mods a weapon can have, and what mods are offered when modding a weapon. Many traits only apply their bonuses to some weapon types.
Some traits and gear mods refer to broader categories, such as the word "auto" often meaning both single shot and multi-shot rifles, including rotary weapons.
