Dark Cathedral[]

You shouldn't have come here. Turn back while you still can...

The Dark Cathedral entrance is in the far west. To the east, there is a grand hall leading to three wings. Upon reaching the end of the upper or lower wings, enemies will begin spawning there through portals. Be warned that there are spike traps on the paths leading to the end of each wing. After enough have been killed, warnings will be given to flee the area.

Once both side wings have been activated and cleared, returning to the center will trigger enemies to spawn there also. After defeating the last of these, the reward room will unlock.

  • Cryoreaver
  • Toxic Reaver
  • Cryoberos

Special Objective[]

The player is able to obtain special bonuses by bringing the frozen heart from Europa Ruins' special level Frozen Temple and leaving it in the blue pentagram at the central hall of the Cathedral. When the character moves away from the pentagram, the heart disappears, and three wishes are offered with no option to refuse:

  • "WEALTH!" - choose 1 of 5 unique weapons. Current health set to 20. All non-ancient healing consumables and multitools are removed from the character's inventory, level and the connected level.
  • "POWER!" - Demonblood effect: +50% damage, -50% healing. Maximum health reduced by 25% and current health set to 20.
  • "HEALTH!" - Demonblood effect: regenerate 5 health per turn up to 50% of the maximum health, -75% healing. Current health set to 1.

Demonblood effects do not affect healing from large medkits and military stimpacks.

Instead of this, the player can opt to sacrifice a unique item instead, which will cause the altar to offer back one of the following uniques in exchange:

Note that you CAN sacrifice both an unique item and the heart in the same run, BUT ONLY IN THIS ORDER.

It is advised to clear the level first, as the demonic offering triggers the summoning of the enemies in both the center area as well as both wings.
