I call shotgun.
12ga shotgun is a basic shotgun. It deals high damage from close range in a wide area. As it takes time to reload after every shot, this shotgun is only effective against small enemies when they can be killed one-by-one, or against a group of closely standing small enemies.
Its one distinguishing feature is one extra maximum range over any other shotgun*. Since shotguns can blind fire, a 12 gauge modded for extra max range can damage enemies outside of the player's line of sight.
